Introduction
This is my weebly for my Life cycle project. I have chosen to do bullet resitant glass because i have been watching ancient war machines on amazon video. I find objects of war to be interesting in the way that they are manufactured and their origins.
Timeline
Raise and Extract- Bullet proof glass is made up of two layers. The outside layer is made of brittle glass. Glass is sand that is put under extreme heat and melted to form glass. The other layer is pvb or Polyvinyl butyral. This plastic is used for adhesion and it is also tough and flexible, sounds perfect for stopping a bullet.
Process- The sand for the first step is heated and melted to form glass. For the PVB, its base is made by dissolving another polymer, polyvinyl acetate in an alcohol such as ethanol and treating it with an alkaline catalyst such as sodium hydroxide. With a chemical reaction of the PVA and butyraldehyde, it can be made into PVB.
Manufacture- To manufacture the glass. There needs to be a pressure cooker to attach the PVB to the glass. Another object that could be needed is a large furnace. Robots are also need or at least automated since glass can be broken very easily and need to be perfectly cut and used.
Use- The bullet resistant glass can be used in many ways. The president's limo has bullet proof glass to prevent assassinations, the glass is also used in banks and even shopping malls. The military used this glass in many of its vehicles such as the humvee.
Dispose- The way PVB is recycled is in a 3 step process. The first is to mechanically crack it, then you reduce the adhesion to a minimal degree, then you mechanically peel the remaining glass.

Conclusion
A. A products life cycle is basically how it is made, manufacture, used, and how we dispose of it.
B. Because they need to make sure it is safe to start with, if the disposing will cause any pollution, and how to completely and correctly make it.
C. I would try to use a material that has the same characteristics and PVB but have it easier to mold. It takes a lot of energy to heat up the oven which causes pollution. This would make this glass even more eco-friendly
D. I don't think this object will ever be obsolete since it is a transparent glass that many people use to be safe from murder or even just to not have their windows shatter causing. It simply is a good thing to have even cars use it.
E. The glass isn't really that recyclable. You can do it but you don't get much. The more recyclable glass is the windshield but other than that is really isn't that good.
F. I believe that they were. This invention has saved many lives and knowing that it couldn't be that recyclable had to be a trade off. The benefits were too great to make the glass weaker.
G. It is important to recycle because in this day and age, our trash is killing many lives in other countries and even here in the united states. especial E-waste. E-waste is killing many indians since we are exporting our electronic waste there. Even now, global warming is becoming too real and forcing people to change their products for the better of human health and the earth.
H. The product designers choose what kind of material they use and if they were to choose a material that is very recyclable then it would make their product eco friendly and make more people want to buy it.
I. Society wan the best for themselves. If they wanna start recycling, by all means they can. It was the people who wanted to start recycling in the first place so that they could use less harmful materials. If people see that your product is eco friendly then more people would buy it knowing that they can recycle it.
J. I could start to recycle but that is what everyone says. I would like to become a welder when i grow up. What i hope for is that when i can do that, we would have discovered a metal hard as steel and be able to recycle it like plastic. Maybe someone won't be able to do that so i can help by giving money to the environmental groups and Nasa to help fund those ideas.
